Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Welcome to Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an experienced editor to approve of your new article or proposed rename, you are in the wrong place.
- Make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Even if the target page exists, you can sometimes move the page normally if the target is a redirect back to the source page and has 1 revision.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please use the submission wizard to submit your draft or user sandbox page for review at Articles for creation instead of listing it here.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Do not edit the article's talk page, just click the button below.
To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
If your request requires an administrator. Usually, do so if the page has been fully protected or move protected (see this guide to which moves need administrators).

[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Patriarch of All Bulgaria → Patriarch of Bulgaria (currently a redirect back to Patriarch of All Bulgaria) (move · discuss) – Request to move to Patriarch of Bulgaria."Patriarch of All Bulgaria" is translated to Bulgarian as "Патриарх всебългарски". This form isn't used by any official source i could find. The error most likely originated from the fact that other countries' Patriarchs use this form, such as the russian one: "Патриарх (Московский и) всея Руси", which would translate to "Patriarch (of Moscow) and all Rus'". --DemieK07 (talk) 17:24, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- Rajah Muthiah Medical College → Government Cuddalore Medical College (currently a redirect back to Rajah Muthiah Medical College) (move · discuss) – Request to move to new official name per WP:COMMONNAME, WP:PRECISE and the official website, which states the name as "Government Cuddalore Medical College". It was officially renamed back in 2021. Ragnarvrollo (talk) 09:25, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

- Krasno Selo Metro Station → Tsar Boris III Metro Station (move · discuss) – The station was renamed by a decision of the city counsel. The physical signs at the station where already changed, Google Maps Data too, The Bulgarian Articel also. [1]. Apple239 (talk) 18:36, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
- The name of the station is now Tsar Boris III/Krasno Selo Metro Station . The article title should include "Station" and the requested new title implies an article about the Tsar and not about a station. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:18, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, the station name is "Tsar Boris III". I agree to adding "Station" in the name. -> Tsar Boris III Metro Station
- https://council.sofia.bg/documents/d/guest/r-284-2026
- The source I provide is the official decision of the city. You can read the relevant part without Bulgarian knowledge.
- (2) „бул. Цар Борис III/Красно село“ -> „Цар Борис III“
- Here is the Translation: DECISION No. 284 of the Sofia Municipal Council dated April 30, 2026 Regarding the renaming and indexing of public transport stops (...) within the Territory of Sofia Municipality,
- THE SOFIA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL (...)
- 2. Renames the "Tsar Boris III Blvd./Krasno Selo" metro station to
- "Tsar Boris III," with the transliterated spelling "Tsar Boris III.".
- The source you provided is a private non official website
- You can red it under "Who we are" sofiametro.bg
- "sofiametro.bg is an independent project. It is not affiliated with Metropoliten JSC, Sofia Municipality or the Sofia Centre for Urban Mobility, and it does not sell tickets."
- that just still provides the old and wrong name.
- Thank you. Apple239 (talk) 19:17, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

- Bishnupur, Manipur Assembly constituency → Bishnupur Assembly constituency (Manipur) (move · discuss) – as all the entries in Category:Assembly constituencies of Manipur are written as "XYZ Assembly constituency", Bishnupur Assembly constituency should be written in the similar style, though there's another place outside Manipur called Bishnupur, for which Manipur should be added inside brackets to avoid confusion. The present title is very weird and sounds like "Manipur" itself is an assembly constituency, which is technically not, and misleading and confusing to the readers. [edit]- Danish Armed Forces → Danish Defence (currently a redirect back to Danish Armed Forces) (move · discuss) – reason for previous move was "official name", however per official website "Danish Defence" is the official name. Skjoldbro (talk) 15:28, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

- Lü Jia (Nanyue) → Lữ Gia (currently a redirect back to Lü Jia (Nanyue)) (move · discuss) – "Lữ Gia" is the overwhelmingly common name used in English-language scholarship on Nanyue/Nam Việt history (e.g., Taylor, Holmgren), while "Lü Jia" is primarily the Pinyin transcription rather than the established English historiographical convention. This person is from Thanh Hoá Province, Vietnam. Quangtrung.nguyen.2016 (talk) 02:37, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
- Mild Oppose - Taylor and Holmgren are historians of Vietnamese history I assume. I'm familiar with Taylor's A History of Vietnam but all I could find for Holmgren is Chinese Colonisation of Northern Vietnam from 1980. I have a copy of Record of the Grand Historian translated by Burton Watson that uses Lü Jia. The difference in preference is that one is focused on Vietnamese history and the other Chinese history. The person is obscure enough to be little covered in English literature, so I don't think there's going to be much to go on. Another argument is that this is a native "Vietnamese" person and therefore should be spelled with Vietnamese letters. But this creates some awkwardness because Nanyue and practically all Nanyue-related articles use pinyin since it has been determined to be a "non-Vietnamese" or "Chinese" dynasty in modern times by both Vietnam and China. So is the precedence that individuals in Nanyue should be spelled with Vietnamese if they are determined to be of Vietnamese origin? Are there any other articles that this would be subject to? I'd prefer to just have pinyin and have Vietnamese in parenthesis but I can see why others would feel strongly against this. Qiushufang (talk) 05:47, 4 October 2026 (UTC)

- I object to all of the above (from Sagol kāngjei onwards) – sport names and dish names are not normally considered proper nouns in English, and "vast majority of third party books and websites" has little bearing to WP:CAPS principles. Deity of Kanglā shā has a good reason to be capitalised, but a RM should decide on diacritics. No such user (talk) 08:25, 6 October 2026 (UTC)
