How to add to the community bulletin board Welcome to the community bulletin board, which is a page used for announcements from WikiProjects and other groups. Included here are coordinated efforts, events, projects, and other general announcements. Sign up on meta Monthly or continuous events Monthly contest, WikiProject Military history. The contest department of the Military history WikiProject aims to motivate increased quality in military history articles by offering a form of friendly competition for project members making improvements to them. The primary contest available is a simple rolling competition that awards points for improving articles. The contest runs from the first to last day of each month. Guild of Copy Editors: drive. The July 2026 backlog drive was a one-month-long effort by the Guild of Copy Editors to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy editing: those carrying the {{copy edit}} tag (also {{awkward}}, {{copy edit section}}, {{inappropriate person}}, {{copy edit inline}}, and their redirects), and those listed on the GOCE Requests page. It began on 1 July, 00:00 (UTC), and ended on 31 July, 23:59 (UTC). Stay tuned for the next event. Updates for editors The Reader Experience team has developed a patch demo that wraps the page toolbar onto two lines when there is not enough horizontal space for all the buttons. This aims to reduce crowding in the Vector 2022 toolbar, which can occur on some language Wikipedias at certain screen widths. The Reader Experience team is planning to launch Reading Lists, a Community Wishlist item, which is currently available to try in beta, as a full feature in September. Before then, volunteer translator help is needed for string translations into a number of languages. The feature supports reading and learning goals on Wikipedia. Next week, the table of contents on Wikimedia Commons file pages will be improved by consolidating the file page table of contents with the page table of contents. This will make it easier to understand a file page’s structure, navigate to specific sections, and share links to individual sections. View all 24 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, an issue where some TIFF images failed to load after clicking their thumbnail, causing a broken image to be displayed instead of the full-size image, has now been fixed. Updates for technical contributors The variable and function selector in AbuseFilter has been updated to support search and autocomplete. It will allow filter maintainers to find the desired variable or function more quickly. The MJPEG and VP8 formats are removed from the video player. The MP4 format (MPEG-4 Part 2) is added instead, which provides higher quality videos to older iPhone devices. It may take a few weeks to retroactively update all existing videos. The default format for modern devices stays the same (VP9/WebM). Things to do Help update to the new references format? Respond to a request for comment. Can you draw or take pictures? Make a requested image. Peer review or assess some articles, especially those recently revised. Offer your thoughts and ideas on proposed policies. Can you use GIS tools? Help make requested maps. Collaboration of the week Help edit Lee Smith (baseball), Wikipedia's current collaboration of the week! Please help to bring it up to featured article standard. Lee Arthur Smith (born December 4, 1957 in Shreveport, Louisiana) was a pitcher in Major Leagues. Smith played for eight teams in both the NL and AL in his 18-year career, beginning with the Cubs in 1980. Smith led the league in saves four times during his career and by the time of his retirement in 1997 (with the Expos), he was the all-time leader with 478 saves. Smith used his fastball and size (he stood 6'6") to intimidate batters during the late innings of the game and became one of the premier closers of the 1980's and early 1990's. Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive The Article Collaboration and Improvement Drive works on an article that needs a lot of help to reach featured-article standard. The subject of this week's article improvement drive is Richard Nunez (artist) (random unreferenced BLP of the day for 7 Aug 2026 - provided by User:AnomieBOT/RandomPage via WP:RANDUNREF): A picture of Aang and Momo Aang is a fictional character and the main protagonist for Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. He is voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen. Twelve-year-old Aang is the last surviving Airbender, a monk of the Air Nomads' Southern Air Temple, and is a supercentenarian at the incarnation age of 112. He is the current incarnation of the Avatar, the spirit of the planet manifested in human form. Aang, as the Avatar, controls the elements and is tasked with keeping the Four Nations at peace. Aang is the series' reluctant hero and comic, spending a century in suspended animation before joining new friends Katara and Sokka on a quest to master the elements and save their world from the war-hungry imperialist Fire Nation. Good Article Collaboration of the week The Good Article Collaboration of the week works to polish already good articles to the highest of standards. This week's improvement drive is Elvis Presley: Elvis Aaron Presley began his career as one of the first performers of rockabilly, an uptempo fusion of country and rhythm and blues with a strong back beat. His novel versions of existing songs, mixing "black" and "white" sounds, made him popular—and controversial—as did his uninhibited stage and television performances. He recorded songs in the rock and roll genre, with tracks like "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock" later embodying the style. Presley had a versatile voice and had unusually wide success encompassing other genres, including gospel, blues, ballads and pop. To date, he is the only performer to have been inducted into four separate music halls of fame. You can still help pick next week's article.

Here's how: (1) In the Wikipedia search box, type the word intitle followed by a colon, then the word or phrase you are looking for. When you click on "Search," then, you'll be presented with a list of articles that have your search term in their titles. (2) You can also search for one word or phrase in the title and for others in the text of the articles.
