Update the template's code with Special:Diff/1347021471. All the other {{PAM templates}} say "merging into", not "merging to", when the direction is known (and in the case of AfD it always is). FaviFake (talk) 05:52, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

There should be absolutely no need to paste code blobs into template talk pages, and certainly not using {{text diff}}, which is for showing differences in text, not in markup. All proposed changes should be put in the template's sandbox, per WP:TESTCASES. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:42, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

@Redrose64 If you click on the request edit button at the top (provided by {{permanently protected}}), it prompts you directly with {{text diff}}. I strongly suggest you make an update to {{Request edit button/preload}} if you have a problem with how this is handled. ~ oklopfer (💬) 18:07, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

There is a clear instruction in that preload as follows: If your edit is more than one or two sentences, then delete the "Diff:" text below, put your changes in this template's sandbox and link to the sandbox below. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:22, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

Could any admins here actually update the main template with the sandbox please? Instead of discussing which (or whether) templates should be used to make edit requests? I've only italicised the target article's name to match every other merge template, it shouldn't be controversial at all and will reduce the template-editor requests backlog.
