Precision Farming

"Merck got into cow collars in 2019 when it bought Allflex, a company that makes them, betting that the animal health industry would grow. Merck sells the collars and software for a monthly subscription of around $3 a cow and monitors over two million cows, or 20 percent of the U.S. herd. Suggestion for update

Dear all, I would like to suggest to update one information in the article related to the brand use of Merck inside and outside the U.S. and Canada as well as an update of the picture in the info box of our headquarters as the current picture is outdated (pyramide does not exist anymore) Please note that I have a financial conflict of interest as I am an employee of Merck Group.

Introduction

1. Please remove the last two sentences of the fourth paragraph of the article: The original Merck of Darmstadt holds the rights to the name Merck in all countries except the U.S. and Canada, where it is known as EMD (Emanuel Merck, Darmstadt), and the life science business specifically is known as MilliporeSigma. In 2015 Merck adopted a uniform brand identity for all its subsidiaries, and the company has stressed its intention to protect the brand of "the real Merck" globally and initiated litigation against its former subsidiary over use of the name.

2. Please add the following as the last two sentences of the fourth paragraph to the article: Merck KGaA of Darmstadt holds the rights to the name Merck in all countries except the U.S. and Canada, where its businesses operate under "EMD Serono" in Healthcare, "MilliporeSigma" in Life Science and "EMD Electronics" in Electronics. Merck & Co., Inc. holds the rights in the trademark MERCK in the United States and Canada.

4. Reason for change being made: Suggestion to update the two sentences after court rule in 2016.

 Not done @Heinrich-Emanuel: For two reasons. First, the lead is supposed to summarize the article. Anything added or changed in the lead therefore needs to also be updated in the article. Second, the source you provided doesn't fully support the text. There's no mention of MillisporeSigma or the other companies. I'd find a place in the article to update the info, with a better source, and then we can change the lead. If the info is properly sourced in the body, there's no need to duplicate the source in the lead, and indeed it's discouraged per the manual of style. I marked the request under consideration with the "u" parameter. If you update the request, you can remove the "u" from the template so others will come to help.
