Hi. This guy I know on the internet-paratus-thinks that the citation for the international headquarters being in Malaysia is really weak, and I agree. There's no mention of it on the corporate website, and the citation link is to some personal website about the root beer. So yeah. 129.19.139.62 (talk) 16:32, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Failed good article nomination

Unfortunately, this article is far from being a good article. Why:

The article is too short. There needs to be more detail about the history and pretty much everything else.
Related articles and external links have to be split (GTL and main part of MOS).
Woefully under-referenced. In addition to content, you have to cite it in order for the information to be verifiable.

Questionable wording

"...A&W outlets tripled as GI loans paved the way for private enterprise." GI loans are the opposite of private enterprise. Unless someone can justify this sentence, I'm going to change it to "business ownership". Laodah 02:56, 28 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

According to an A&W Restaurant 2023 press release, Rooty the Great Root Bear was created in 1963, NOT in 1974 as stated in the article. 2600:8800:204:C400:A469:A4A2:AAF9:70C5 (talk) 06:47, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I found multiple sources that Rooty became the mascot in the mid-1970s and one that specifies 1973. Without seeing the press release, it's possible for both statements to be true: that they created the bear in 1963 and that the bear became the chain's official mascot in 1973.
