Just to point out there is an alternative to this template

[edit]

If you use ClueBot, it comes with a built in Archives box. It looks positively prehistoric compared to this one, just wanted to remind y'all.

Here's a sample setup code. Note the |archivebox=yes parameter.

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis
|archiveprefix=Wikipedia talk:Bare URLs/Archive
|format= %%i
|age=2160
|maxarchsize=150000
|numberstart=1
|minkeepthreads=4
|archivebox=yes
|box-advert=no
}}

We could merge User:ClueBot III/Archive Box. Qwerfjkltalk 11:46, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@CapnZapp: Could you link to a talk page example? --Timeshifter (talk) 11:51, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Look at |archiveprefix= for a hint ;) CapnZapp (talk) 11:53, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also, I modified our documentation. If you know of more alternative (old, legacy) archive boxes, do add them there. Cheers CapnZapp (talk) 11:53, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Expression error: Unexpected < operator."

[edit]

For some reason this error seems to be showing up in this template on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Header? Not sure whether this is due to a recent edit to the template itself or the RFPP header. 88.97.192.42 (talk) 14:49, 23 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

This one's my fault due to a change to a module this template relies on. There's nothing wrong with the way the parameters are set on the template. The issue should resolve itself at some point. Aidan9382 (talk) 15:12, 23 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the consensus wording from the recent {{Talk header}} Rfc, see the discussion at Template talk:Talk header#"One or more at a time". Mathglot (talk) 23:33, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

archivelist

[edit]

The documentation is not super clear on:

  1. is a subpage called "{{PAGENAME}}/archivelist" automatically detected and used, or do you have to use the |archivelist= parameter?
  2. do you need to supply a value for the |archivelist= parameter or does it default to |archivelist=archivelist?
  3. if you use |archivelist= because your archive list subpage is under a different page (not a direct subpage to the page you're placing this template on), can you instead use |root= (or |prefix=) assuming the actual list has the default "archivelist" name? That is, does the changed root apply to archive list detection as well as detection of archived named the standard way?
