Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles/Assessment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The project manages around 2,000 articles related to the Beatles, excepting redirects, categories, and others, with a broad and nested hierarchy of categories covering them. This section collects these herds of articles into tables by theme, importance, quality, so on, so that anyone interested can see which ones need the most work.

Should one wish to change an article's assessment or otherwise assess it for the first time, they can place or replace the parameters of this template: {{WikiProject The Beatles|class= |importance= }} on a relevant article's talk page; this page gathers all the parameters of categories to be used and how one should use them. For example, {{WikiProject The Beatles}} can be altered to {{WikiProject The Beatles|class=B|importance=Low|paul=yes|song=yes}} if one thinks it's a B-class article on an insignificant McCartney number.

To-do list:
For WikiProject The Beatles
  1. Apple Records discography – Needs British LPs and singles, and US LPs. Needs restructuring. I'd propose using the Brit catalog as the basis, and having only those releases which are different in the US section. This might not be practical, however, if the cat. no.s are different (they are for the singles, not sure for the albums).
Blue links need to be checked for and, if they aren't already, added to Category:Apple Records singles or Category:Apple Records albums, and the same for The Beatles/solo members singles/albums categories.
  2. Add specific fair use rationales to Beatles-related copyrighted images, especially singles covers (see Image:In My Life - The Beatles.jpg, for example).
  3. Improve all released Beatles songs and covers to C-class, at least.
  4. Take a photo of Kenwood.

This article does not yet have a related to do list. If you can think of any ways to improve the article, why not create one?

In the edit summary, if one thinks the assessment may reasonably be challenged, they should explain why it deserves that assessment. If the article needs a photo, an {{Image requested}} template shoukld be placed onto the article's talk page.

Graph showing number of good and featured articles/lists by year

  • As of the end of year; includes good and featured articles and lists that were listed at the time but later delisted. May not account for all Beatles-related articles, as some may not have been grouped under the project yet. The modern good articles system only came about in 2006.
The yellow bars mark the age before or just as the project was being formed—rather unamusingly, 2006 saw the most discussion and interest in the project; the pink bars mark a mostly active time when andreasegde was the project's foremost editor; the blue bars indicate the age of JG66, when he wrote and revised many of the project's excellent and most important articles (other editors always did their all to sustain the project, such as GabeMc during this time; and the project's decline, in big part because of the loss of JG66 and almost all the original members, are marked by the gold bars. However, the recent months have seen the project at its most active in a long time.
