Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Romanization of Ukrainian/Ukrainian National transliteration table

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following table describes the Ukrainian National romanization system (2010 version) for Ukrainian. See Wikipedia:romanization of Ukrainian for editorial guidelines, romanization of Ukrainian for more about the system. It has also been adopted by the UNGEGN and BGN/PCGN, and resembles the more precise ALA-LC system.

Explicit soft sign and apostrophe

[edit]

When more precision is required (typically not in running text), the soft sign, miakyi znak (Ь ь), can be explicitly represented by an apostrophe and the Ukrainian apostrophe, apostrof (’), by a double apostrophe (closing quotation marks).

This is a wiki-modification based on other romanization systems, and not part of the standard.
