Michael Hauskeller (born 1964) is a German-British philosopher, author, and academic. He currently serves as a Professor of Philosophy and the Head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Liverpool. His primary research interests focus on practical philosophy, meta-ethics, applied ethics, the critique of transhumanist philosophies, human enhancement, and existential themes concerning the meaning of life and death. == Education and early career == Hauskeller was born in Mönchengladbach, Germany. He studied philosophy at the University of Bonn, completing his doctorate in 1994 under the supervision of Gernot Böhme at Technische Universität Darmstadt. He achieved his habilitation at Darmstadt in 2001. In 2003, Hauskeller relocated to the United Kingdom, where he joined the Department of Sociology, Philosophy and Anthropology at the University of Exeter. He later served as an Associate Professor and Head of Department at Exeter before moving to the University of Liverpool in 2018 to take up his current position as Chair and Head of Philosophy. == Philosophical work == Hauskeller’s extensive publication history primarily investigates what constitutes human flourishing and the ethical boundaries of technological intervention.
