Why does Israel ranked so low?

Legend?

I don't see a legend for the Ranking and Scores chart; anyone know what the colors indicate? Am I missing something obvious? Jambori (talk) 15:20, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

"Non-primary source needed"

The first paragraph has an editor's note "non-primary source needed". But I believe the primary source cited is sufficient here, in line with Item 3 of the Policy on primary sources at Wikipedia: No original research, which reads "A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge." The existing citation [2] is to a Wayback Machine pdf describing the WPFI methodology, and firstly, specifically states on page 1: "The index should in no way be taken as an indication of the quality of the media in the countries." Secondly, all the discussion of human rights violations, primarily violence, is limited to media workers. Taken all together, this methodology statement clearly sets out the facts of what the WPFI does and doesn't do, in a way that an educated person could easily discern, and thus supports the claims in the last para of the short description. Do others think I would be justified in deleting the request for a non-primary source? I think the same rationale applies to deleting the request for a non-primary source at the end of the Methodology sub-section. I'd be grateful for other editors' opinions before I go ahead.

I reworked it to make it less awkward - the reason I do not like ever using primary sources (and believe both flags are needed still) is that it's easy to cherry-pick and turn something into Wikipedia:Original research. When forced to use secondary sources, it helps to keep the article free of details that are true but not notable/relevant enough to be included Superb Owl (talk) 04:10, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
