Get Jiro is an upcoming American adult animated action-thriller television series developed by Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood based on the 2012 graphic novel Get Jiro! and its 2015 prequel Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi, written by Joel Rose and Anthony Bourdain, illustrated by Langdon Foss[b] and Alé Garza,[c] and published by DC Comics under its Vertigo imprint. The series is set to premiere on October 4, 2026,[d] in the United States on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block, with each episode releasing on HBO Max shortly after broadcast.[1][2][3]
Premise
[edit]Set in a post-apocalyptic, near-future Los Angeles where culinary culture reigns supreme and the world's most powerful figures are chefs, the series follows a mysterious sushi chef named Jiro, who sets out on a quest for vengeance in a society where food is both currency and a marker of class.[2]

Titus Welliver, Alison Pill, and Justin Kirk are also set to join the voice cast in currently undisclosed roles.[1][2][3]
Production
[edit]The series was first announced by Warner Bros. Animation and Adult Swim at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2023.[4] The series was previewed as a work-in-progress at the same event two years later in June 2025.[2]
