I have a question.

[edit]

Why can't you update the image? This image features an outdated UI of YouTube. MJGTMKME123 (talk) 14:47, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thejiujiangdragon, any reason to revert the change? Ideally, you should've provided one. Skyshiftertalk 00:33, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

When I said Take it to the talk page, what I mean is that the reupload should be discussed here. thejiujiangdragon T/C 01:01, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thejiujiangdragon, surely if you disagree with the reupload, we can discuss here. But if you don't have an opinion, why have you reverted it? Skyshiftertalk 01:17, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I was unsure about the authenticity of the image given you have superimposed a much more relevant and iconic frame where time doesn't match, so I reverted it to preserve authenticity. Please also see WP:BRD. thejiujiangdragon T/C 02:15, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure, now that's a discussion to be had. I think the problem of this image is that it is not relevant enough to the article. It is just a random frame of the music video, which does not have any relevancy. The frame I had superimposed, showing Rick Astley against the light background and the microphone, is much more iconic and known. It is one of the first few frames of the video, which are the most relevant for the rickroll. Searching for "rickroll" on the Internet will show similar frames. However, I understand if there is disagreement over the superimposition. I'd support a new screenshot outright, but some people apparently prefer retaining the old UI. That's why I thought superimposing could be a middle ground. Skyshiftertalk 02:24, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thejiujiangdragon, do you have any disagreements? Skyshiftertalk 02:23, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
The superimpose of the new screenshot to the existing image made me feel as if it would be a less realistic representation of the video when viewed back at the time when YouTube was younger. thejiujiangdragon talk 03:21, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Again, apologies if I haven't provided anything else in the edit summary. thejiujiangdragon T/C 02:16, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
