Jan Uddenfeldt is a Swedish telecommunications engineer and former technology executive at Ericsson and Sony Ericsson.[1][2] He received his PhD in 1973 from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He joined Ericsson in 1978 and later became senior vice president of the company.[2]
In 2010, Uddenfeldt became chief technology officer of Sony Ericsson.[3][4][5][6] He later co-founded Air5.[7] He has been a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences since 1989[8] and is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.[9][10]
Career
[edit]Uddenfeldt joined Ericsson in 1978 and later held senior technology and research positions within the company.[2] His work included the development of mobile communications technologies such as 3G, 4G LTE and Bluetooth.[11] He later served as chief technology officer of Sony Ericsson.[3][6] He subsequently co-founded Air5.[7]
Patents
[edit]Uddenfeldt has been named as an inventor on patents relating to mobile communications, including work involving soft handoff and predictive encoding. He received his first patent at the age of 28.[2][12][4][13][14] His academic work also included research on teletransmission.[12][4]
