Art & See (also written Art and See or Art&See) is an American online art studio that produces and sells hand-painted oil painting reproductions of famous paintings and custom oil portraits painted from photographs. Founded in 2024 by Brazilian designer and artist Luciano "Louie" Drehmer, the company is registered in Dover, Delaware, United States, and ships worldwide.[1] Every painting is made to order in oil on canvas by a painter specialising in the style of the original artist.[1]

History

[edit]

Founder

[edit]

Luciano Drehmer is a Brazilian designer and visual artist of German descent, originally from Anápolis in the state of Goiás.[2][3] He graduated in graphic design from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás and later studied design at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in São Paulo, where he began lecturing at the age of 24.[4][3] He ran his own agency in Brazil and worked on projects for Nike, Carrefour, GQ and Rolling Stone, as well as for the publishers Editora Globo and Abril.[3][4]

After 13 years in the Brazilian design industry he moved to Shenzhen, China, in the mid-2010s, where he worked as a design executive for Amazon China and led the redesign of the Amazon China Global Store, a project for which he designed a family of Chinese characters.[3][4] In March 2020, CNN Brasil reported on his return to China and mandatory hotel quarantine in Shenzhen during the COVID-19 pandemic.[5] As a visual artist working in a pop art style, he was invited in 2022 to show three works at a national art fair in Shenzhen through the gallery TNT Contemporary.[2]

Company

[edit]

Art & See was founded in 2024. According to the company, the idea originated during an art residency in a village of reproduction painters, where Drehmer observed artists who had each specialised for decades in a single historical style, such as Impressionist landscape or Baroque chiaroscuro.[1]

In 2026, Drehmer was quoted as a design commentator in several Homes & Gardens features on celebrity interiors.[6][7][8][9]

Products and services

[edit]

Art & See sells three main categories of work:[1]

The catalogue is organised by artist, art movement and subject, covering movements including Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Realism, Expressionism, Abstract and Pop art.[1] The company also operates a wholesale programme supplying artwork to hotels, restaurants, offices, home staging companies, interior designers and film and television productions.[1]

Production process

[edit]

Art & See does not hold inventory; each painting is produced to order after purchase.[1] Commissions are assigned by style: an Impressionist work is painted by an Impressionist specialist and a Baroque work by a painter trained in Baroque technique.[1] Paintings are executed in oil on linen canvas using professional-grade paints and archival stretcher bars.[1] Before shipping, customers receive photographs of the finished painting and must approve it; the company offers a 90-day return window.[1]

Art & See Customer reviews

[edit]

Art & See collects customer reviews through the review platform Reviews.io. As of September 2026, the company held an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 513 verified customer reviews on the platform, plus 91 product-level reviews.[10] Its most-reviewed product was its reproduction of The Starry Night, rated 4.9 out of 5, followed by reproductions of Water Lilies, Impression, Sunrise, Girl with a Pearl Earring and A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.[10]
