Request for help with new article

[edit]

I have created the article Ellen Åkesson. Ms Åkesson is Swedish and therefore many of the relevant sources are Swedish. Not being able to speak Swedish, I would be grateful if anyone who does was able to expand the article with any relevant information. Many thanks. McPhail (talk) 08:53, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Marika Cobbold

[edit]

I am trying to create a page for Swedish writer Marika Cobbold (née Hjörne) and dont know how to link to her Swedish Wikipedia page. Also, because I dont speak Swedish I dont know hoe to find 'relieable" sources from the Swedish press about her. Any help much appreciated. Supereditor6464 (talk) 13:11, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! I made some edits to the draft and accepted it as she meets the notability guideline for authors. I also went ahead and linked it with the Swedish Wikipedia article, which can be done via Wikidata. Finding Swedish sources can definitely be a bit tricky- depending on where you are and what search engine you use they might not readily show up in results. I usually start by searching Dagens Nyheter. Sveriges Radio and SVT Nyheter are also good options as they are not paywalled like many Swedish publications. Thanks for creating the article! Oh thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I'll do some more work on the Swedish references. So is Wikidata a 'reliable' source?
And will the page be visible to the general public now?

Hi Supereditor6464, yes- since I accepted the draft, it has been moved into the main article space, so anyone can find it now. I added some reliable sources to help demonstrate her notability as an author before accepting it, but you are welcome to add more! I just used Wikidata to connect the English and Swedish articles together- it acts as a bridge to connect the projects, rather than being a source in itself. It's asking for citation for inge Meysel, which was ok on the draft as it cross-referred to her wikipedia page. However it's now not accepting that and saying "citation needed". I'm flummoxed. Supereditor6464 (talk) 13:53, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No need to worry! Basically Wikipedia can't reference itself- the text will need an external source, like a newspaper article. I tagged the Inge Meysel adaptation and info about her second marriage with {{citation needed}} because it wasn't clear to me where those claims could be verified. But articles are allowed to exist with these tags, they basically function as markers of where sources should be added. Once a reliable source is added, the tags can come off. Ah. Brilliant. Thanks so much. ~2026-34976-15 (talk) 14:05, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
