Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Welcome to Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an experienced editor to approve of your new article or proposed rename, you are in the wrong place.
- Make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Even if the target page exists, you can sometimes move the page normally if the target is a redirect back to the source page and has 1 revision.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please use the submission wizard to submit your draft or user sandbox page for review at Articles for creation instead of listing it here.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Do not edit the article's talk page, just click the button below.
To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
If your request requires an administrator. Usually, do so if the page has been fully protected or move protected (see this guide to which moves need administrators).

[edit]- Sibylla, Queen of Jerusalem → Sibylla of Jerusalem (currently a redirect back to Sibylla, Queen of Jerusalem) (move · discuss) – sufficient and clear, already redirects here, consistent with other kings and queens and with other rulers of the Latin East Surtsicna (talk) 18:01, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Surtsicna : Per the 2010 move implementation and Naming covention (royalty and nobility, Ar21 discussion you should RM this up. CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 20:44, 9 August 2026 (UTC)

- Visakhapatnam railway station → Visakhapatnam Junction railway station (currently a redirect back to Visakhapatnam railway station) (move · discuss) – name correction as it is Junction ~2026-43754-06 (talk) 11:30, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- I oppose all the three requests per WP:COMMONNAME, all I am seeing in sources are Visakhapatnam Junction or Visakhapatnam railway station the same goes for the other requests. Where does "Junction railway station" suffix come from? Could you please provide reliable sources? CONFUSED SPIRIT(Thilio).Talk 21:18, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- List of princely states of British India (by region) → List of princely states of British India (currently a redirect back to List of princely states of British India (by region)) (move · discuss) – This is the primary list, and the alphabetical list might be deleted due to it violating policy. Please ping me if you contest it, so that I can start a RM HerrHeulsuse (talk) 13:15, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- The other article might be deleted, but it might not. — BarrelProof (talk) 04:39, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- @HerrHeulsuse I'd wait until the AfD plays out. If consensus is to delete, I don't see any issues with moving though it may require a move discussion. In solidarity, Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 23:40, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, let's wait. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 23:56, 9 August 2026 (UTC)

Administrator needed
[edit]- Draft:1 Corinthians 13 → 1 Corinthians 13 (currently a redirect instead to First Epistle to the Corinthians) (move · discuss) – The draft is a complete standalone article, developed in response to reviewer feedback at Draft talk:1 Corinthians 13#Review. Sirfurboy stated on 22 July that he would "be content with a move into mainspace at this time". Beland asked to reassess the article's length on the same date and has not commented since; I notified them of the intended move on 3 August and there has been no response. The target is currently a redirect with extensive page history (the chapter was merged in 2024), so I cannot complete the move myself. Note that Talk:1 Corinthians 13 already exists, so the draft talk page will need merging rather than moving. Hermeneutix (talk) 07:47, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- A history merge? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 11:53, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Hermeneutix Moving to admin needed as a history merge is required. In solidarity, Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 23:36, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- Sack of Harar → Sack of Harar (1559) (currently a redirect back to Sack of Harar) (move · discuss) – add parentheses for disambiguator Kristos (talk) 03:13, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Kristos As there is no other "sack of Harar", disambiguation is not required. If this article is going to be retained, then a hist merge would be required, but I will defer that judgment to others regarding whether or not this article should even be accepted in the mainspace, given its persistent contested creation history at the redirect. Red Shogun412 (talk • contribs) 03:40, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Should we retarget the redirect? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 04:00, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- If we're gonna keep the article in the mainspace, then yes. Red Shogun412 (talk • contribs) 04:03, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- I am currently working on a draft that would replace the existing Sack of Harar article. I would like the existing article to cover the initial sack of Harar in 1549–1550, while moving the later 1559 event to the redirect, so that the original title refers to the earlier event. Kristos (talk) 04:36, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- A pagemove in this case wouldn't be necessary, regardless of which way it is implemented. Since you have effectively started the article from scratch at the correct title, the extensive page history of the old article that is currently hosted at the redirect can be merged into the page history of the new article that you created. Thus, all page history can be hosted at the new article without a page move and the redirect can simply be retargeted to the new article. Red Shogun412 (talk • contribs) 04:52, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks. Kristos (talk) 05:19, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
