URL change

Hello there. Recently I noticed that web page has changed URL from (example) https://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/pe42189/ to https://www.worldfootball.net/person/pe42189/ Eni.Sukthi.Durres (talk) 16:00, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

The template was updated with a |new_id= parameter to handle the new ID and URL, while retaining |id= or the first unnamed parameter for the old ID and URL (which should redirect to the new ID and URL). For https://www.worldfootball.net/person/pe42189/, use |new_id=pe42189. For https://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/klodian-duro/, use |id=klodian-duro. Zyxw, I think the assumption the redirects will continue to work in the future is the main problem. Sites will often make redirects after a change to the site, and then a couple years later they are deleted (like during a later change to the site). They only maintain 1 version of the site back in time. Then it's very difficult to find that /player_summary/klodian-duro/ equates to /person/pe42189/ .. I suggest a bot run to convert everything to |new_id= where possible, while it is still possible. I can do this as I am currently working on the non-templated versions of the domain at Wikipedia:Link_rot/URL_change_requests#worldfootball.net initially, then can go back and work on the templated versions.
