Romanian templates

Hey @Solidest, I was recently thinking about changing visible name in the RO Template. Currently it is: Romania (Romania Radio Airplay) and Romania (Romania TV Airplay). I think that to match other airplay charts, it would make more sense to rename them to Romania Airplay (Media Forest) and Romania TV Airplay (Media Forest).

Germany and West Germany

Hello. I was wondering if these templates could have |title and |artist parameters in the generated citations. The links currently say "Offizielle Deutsche Charts" and "Offizielle Deutsche Charts (West Germany)". For the |year parameter, i believe it's not needed for Germany as this is for songs after October 3, 1990. The parameter is for songs before 1977 per Template:Single chart. Thanks! I raised this question before. Check this. The current policy is the opposite of what you are suggesting. We do not add parameters to the URL title that are not used or needed in the actual URL. The URL titles themselves should be as close as possible to how the pages are named on the site. At the moment, it matches how the pages are actually titled.
Regarding the year, it is probably better to leave them as they are for now rather than clean them up. Technically, they can all be merged into a single chart now, as they are on the website, and Germany could automatically switch to West Germany when needed. Dutch Top 40

Hello. The |artist parameter doesn't work correctly for artists that start with The. For example, The Cure doesn't work but Cure The works instead. It’s possible, but it would be a rather heavy solution (with a separate unique helper function). It seems better to simply fill them in reverse order than to program such highly specific nuances for each individual chart. Solidest (talk) 09:34, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

Can we remove the dead link template from the Billboardcanadacountry entry?

Hello. It appears Billboard has recently restored the Canada Country chart histories to their website (e.g. Jason Aldean's chart history is intact; it still says "Billboard Hot 100" in the chart selection box, but the chart history is for the Billboard Canada Country chart), but using the Billboardcanadacountry template currently generates a dead link template in the accompanying citation. Hi @Solidest, Could I ask you to add a note in Module:Music chart/single.json for Central America, that data is available from 28 November 2022 onwards? This link shows that this is the first week for which data is available – attempting to view the previous week returns no results, as is the case with other Monitor Latino charts for which I have already found the dates from which their archives are available. @Solidest Unfortunately each chart have its own specific start date, cause they were adding new countries in very different dates - for example Mexico started back in 2002, Bolivia in 2016 etc. Szyign (talk) 08:14, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

Canadian RPM templates need updated

For a while, bac-lac.gc.ca has been saying that they were transferring data from an old address to a new address, and it seems like they finally completed it, as the old website no longer loads . As a result, all the Canadian entries that link to RPM issues need to be updated. For example, the Top Singles chart of April 10, 1993, has been changed from:

As you may have noticed, a new ID number has been added: 1093, while the former ID has also been changed. This new ID also appears to vary from page to page. However, when only the new ID is used in the URL, it redirects to the same page, with the old ID tacked on:

@Solidest: It seems I mixed up the archive above, so it looks like as long as the old ID is known, it can be replaced with the new ID. So:

OK, I've found a way to map the old and new IDs. You can use the new IDs to call their API, and it returns the image numbers (the old IDs): https://digitalmanifest.bac-lac.gc.ca/DigitalManifest/39/1093 (new ID = 1093) returns nlc008388.1781. I guess I'll be able to make the replacements.
It's probably also possible to create a separate JSON file to format the exact titles of the sources (wrote about it here), but I'm afraid it would be very large which would be bad for the resources allocated to loading articles. I need to check how it can be compressed and what can be removed from it.

The solution is ready in the sandbox. I implemented it as new charts to make the changes easier to track and to avoid any interwiki issues. I also added the Country Albums chart. The chart titles will be generated automatically via Module:Music chart/chartdata-canada.json.

I've applied for bot rights since the changes will affect about 8,300 articles, and I want to avoid flooding recent changes. Once the bot flag is granted (or possibly a little earlier), I'll move the changes to the live module and run the replacements.

Around 240 of the old templates have inconsistencies: either the ID is incorrect, or the template specifies one chart while the ID belongs to another. In the new charts, these will appear as errors. So all of these cases will need to be reviewed and manually replaced to new IDs, after which the old chart templates can be deleted once they are no longer in use. Hi Solidest, a request was made at WP:URLREQ#bac-lac.gc.ca. I have a bot designed for url changes. It's a lot more complex than search-replace: check every new URL is actually working, detect and deal with soft-404s and 404s, remove any {{dead link}} tags, add any new {{dead link}} tags, handle any {{webarchive}} templates, add any needed |archive-url= and associated dates and |url-status= changes etc.. Hi. I can only say for certain about links like those that were used in the chart templates. I believe these are all links containing Image=nlc008388.OLDID. In those cases, OLDID can be replaced with the new ID using this table: Wikipedia:WikiProject Record Charts/RPM Canada catalogue, and the entire link can be changed to https://recherche-collection-search.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/home/record?IdNumber=NEWID&app=rpm. (You can use it as is, or append &ecopy= at the end, since the url is displayed like this, and the image number is automatically added to the URL after the page loads.) In the table, find the old ID in the ecopy column and take the corresponding new ID from the Item Number column. Sometimes multiple old IDs map to a single new ID; the replacement is still correct, because the new ID will load a selection of multiple images. Solidest (talk) 09:01, 26 July 2026 (UTC)

Canada airplay charts - live again

Same with Canada Country chart (which was resolved 2 months ago), the chart history links for artists on Billboard Canada airplay charts are live again - for example Taylor Swift chart history: Canada AC, Canada CHR/Top 40, Canada Hot AC. Despite the page showing "Billboard Hot 100" the chart history of songs listed are of the respective Canada charts. Can someone remove the dead URL notices in these templates?
