Footnote option

[edit]

For wikitables, where {{noprint}} will just result in an empty cell, perhaps instead of there being such a cell in the printable version of an article, a note should appear in its place instead. Example:

Wikipedia has an article on: Foo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo).

External links appear like so in print and I think that something similar should be done here, with the creation of a new parameter, perhaps |efn=Foo and |refn=Foo. I am just not quite sure how to put this into practice, and I really would appreciate a bit of help.--Nevéselbert 12:42, 20 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

The last time I checked, the code used to create print-only content didn't work. Creating a note in the printable version of an article (that presumably shouldn't be present in the web article) would require that code. Has anything changed? Has the issue been fixed? If not, modifying the template to provide a non-functional option doesn't seem helpful at this point. Huon (talk) 20:15, 21 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Apparently the code used is limited to citations, per TheDJ's reply at T183127.--Nevéselbert 13:17, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
