Usage
This template indicates a Wikipedia article is a good article nomination (GAN) and adds article talk pages to Category:Good article nominees. It is created automatically when a user places the following at the top of the talk page of the nominated article:
{{subst:GAN|subtopic=name of the section at WP:GAN where the article is listed}}
See the instructions. This template is then maintained by a bot and by users, and is eventually removed at the end of the GAN process.
The syntax is as follows:
{{GA nominee|~~~~~|nominator=|page=|status=|subtopic=|note=|shortdesc=|time=}}
An explanation of each parameter:
- ~~~~~ — Produces a timestamp. This required parameter is populated automatically upon substituting {{GAN}}
- nominator — The user who nominated the article for good article status. (Example: "~~~") This required parameter is populated automatically upon substituting {{GAN}}
- page — The page number of the current review, or the page number of the next free good article review if status=blank. (Example: An article that has never had a good article review before is page=1) This required parameter is populated automatically upon substituting {{GAN}}
- status — The status of the review. A message indicating the status of the review appears beneath the article's entry on the nominations page and near the top of the article talk page. Statuses include:
- blank: no status, the article is waiting to be reviewed
- on review (or onreview): the article is in the process of being reviewed
- on hold (or onhold): the reviewer has encountered issues with the article and is prescribing an amount of time for the issues to be corrected
- 2nd opinion (or 2ndopinion): the reviewer is in search of a second opinion
- subtopic — The GA subtopic that is applicable to this nomination. See the subtopics listed at the instructions. This parameter is normally required, except for miscellaneous nominations. (Example: "Biology and medicine")
- note — A miscellaneous note from the nominator related to the nomination to appear beneath the article's entry on the nominations page and near the top of the article talk page. (Example: "I might not be able to respond to the review until next week. ~~~~")
- shortdesc — Short description of the article's subject to appear beneath the article's entry on the nominations page and near the top of the article talk page. This parameter is populated automatically upon substituting {{GAN}}
- time — The amount of time, as stated as a phrase, prescribed by the reviewer for the nominator to address issues with the article while the status is on hold. This phrase will appear near the top of the article talk page. The default is "seven days".
