The result of the move request was: no consensus. Unfortunately this has been listed for a month now and we are at a stalemate despite multiple relistings and dropping a note at the relevant WikiProject. Tai, Rivers → Tai (local government area) – Numerous reliable sources have refererred to this place as Tai local government area or Tai (local government area), hardly ever read where it has been called Tai, Rivers. - There's no page on the English wiki with the titles Tai local government area or Tai (local government area), all that is listed on the Tai Dab are a couple of villages and a city. If you can give us a direct link to that page that will really help. Stanleytux (talk) 08:47, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- There are villages and cities, which are local governments, which makes your proposed title ambiguous, therefore it fails WP:PRECISE because the disambiguator can be used to describe multiple topics of the same name. -- 70.51.202.113 (talk) 00:18, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- FYI, WP:PRECISE is totally irrelevant in this discussion, since no other page has the suggested title Tai (local government area). Note that there's "local government area" and not local government. In any case, local governments are usually not considered ambiguous when used with a particular place name, for example Scottish local government or English local government. The relevant guideline that applies here is WP:COMMONTERM which states that "Wikipedia generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in reliable English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit criteria such as recognizability and naturalness." In scotland for example, council areas are used in place of local government areas. Here are some examples Highland (council area), Stirling (council area), Falkirk (council area) and more. If we are to go with your reasoning, those pages will not have those titles council area since there are many things that can be referred to with the term "council areas". The same thing applies with pages that have been differentiated with the term city such as Panama City or Tai (city) where the term "City" (use your reasoning) will be ambiguous.
