Bulgarian passports
[edit]The issue of high-ranking politicians and public figures with Bulgarian passports is not new, but at least for 25 years. Such scandals periodically erupt there, at the level of the prime minister, the mayor of the capital, the minister, high-ranking journalist from the propagandist anti-Bulgarian press, etc. These are not intrigues and there are sources for all this. - Pretty sure that it is covered by WP:BLP. This article is supposed to give a general overview about the ethnic group. So, we do not need to mention individual cases like Georgievski. I do not think it is due to say that they engage in anti-Bulgarian rhetoric in wikivoice. That is a strong accusation that would definitely require strong sourcing. It is easy for media outlets to accuse people of controversial rhetoric when they do not comply with the position of a country. To be honest, this is not really a scandal. It is just something that pops up every now and then, and is a common trope of partisan accusations just to gain political points. StephenMacky1 (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
The Gretzinger et al. 53% figure comes from a supplementary table
[edit]The authors do not mention it anywhere in the main text and offer no interpretation of it, and Box 1 of the same paper states that they do not use these ancestry components to distinguish Slavs from non-Slavs or speakers from non-speakers of Slavic languages. Summarising the study by a value its authors declined to interpret, and applying it to a present-day ethnic group in a way the paper explicitly disclaims, gives that detail more weight than the source does (WP:UNDUE). I would suggest the paragraph follow the study's stated conclusions on sixth to eighth century migration, and that any modern admixture estimates be cited to a source that interprets them.
