Republic of China (1912–1949) is inaccurate, as there were actually two rival states within that time period that happened to share the name Republic of China. The Beiyang government was considered the legitimate government of China from 1912–1928, and the Nationalist government replaced it from 1928–1949, where it retreated to Taiwan. I've replaced all links to Republic of China (1912–1949) and added an additional elseif statement to distinguish between the two governments.

The backend module for this template currently uses raw .infobox, which will eventually be removed. Please overwrite Module:Year in various calendars with its sandbox version which I've modified to go through the infobox module (diff). — chrs [talk] 20:08, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Chinese calendar
[edit]The current so-called Chinese calendar in this template is a mix of the Sexagenary cycle and (not explicitly stated but supposedly) the Yellow Emperor Calendar.
However, the Yellow Emperor Calendar was only quasi-officially used for a short period in the early 20th century when debates were heated on which calendar to use, with the Gregorian Calendar and the Confucius Calendar being prominent rivals. So it might be not fully neutral if we only include the Yellow Emperor Calendar. Hence, I suggest removing the Yellow Emperor Calendar from this template due to lack of significance and neutrality.
Meanwhile, I suggest including the regnal year (like Japanese calendar and English regnal years in this template) in the Chinese calendar. And during the period when there were more than one regime, use the traditional one: Cao Wei, Eastern Jin, Liu Song, Southern Qi, Liang dynasty, Chen dynasty, Southern Song. For example, 353 C.E. corresponds to Yonghe 8 (壬子) - Yonghe 9 (癸丑). Gu0427 (talk) 22:05, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Would someone add a parameter, where it only displays one specific calander similar to other infobox and adding the Jain calendar? – KaijuEditor (talk) 18:21, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
