Template talk:Infobox tennis tournament event

Description of suggested change: I would like to request a small layout change to {{Infobox tennis tournament event}}. At the moment, when the |date= parameter is used, the infobox displays it as a separate top-level row labelled Final date, above the Final section. I think it would be clearer for the date to be displayed inside the Final section itself, as a normal row labelled simply Date.

I have implemented this change in the sandbox: Template:Infobox tennis tournament event/sandbox

This is only a layout/presentation change. It should not make |date= a required parameter. If no date is provided, no date row should be displayed, as before.

A simple test case is the 2025 French Open men’s singles final.

I think this grouping is more logical, since the date refers specifically to the final and belongs with the other final-specific information. --HerHair3 (talk) 12:42, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

I also adjusted the Final header condition so that the section is displayed when the optional date parameter is present, even if champion and runner-up have not yet been filled in. @8rz: Why not 2026miamiopen since that's the name of the event? Or if that's taken then 2026miamitennis. Only men play masters but the event is the Miami Open. Fyunck(click) (talk) 16:51, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
