Template talk:Old moves
Add topic | Template:Old moves is indefinitely protected from editing as it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. Unnamed parameter support
[edit]I came across two invocations with the unnamed parameter (1=). Sadly, they result in a no-op, effectively hiding content. Can we make it so this generates at the very list a categorization and an alert to the editors? --Joy (talk) 15:24, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- I drafted this in and added a test case Template:Old moves/testcases#No logs, no oldlist, no list, just first parameter that looks good.
- Any objections to making that go live?
- One thing we could do is also add a tracking category for these, or any other use of unnamed parameters. --Joy (talk) 14:50, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Support for including move reviews
[edit]Could Module:Old moves have support added for listing move reviews? In my opinion, this would be helpful, as it would mean that moves & move reviews would be listed in a standardised format, and it wouldn't be necessary to use the |list= parameter to manually format all the RMs/MRVs.

Fault with heading
[edit]There seems to be a fault causing the "Discussions:" header to appear twice when the template is collapsible. The fault can be observed in Template:Old moves/doc#Collapsed, multiple regular entries and no oldlist. Can anyone with more module expertise than me see what's happening? Fixed. I made this edit which should fix this problem. The one side effect is that if you invoke {{old moves}} with no parameters, it will now have "Discussions:" where it didn't before—invoking the template without any parameters is unhelpful and almost never used, so I think this is fine.Mz7 (talk) 06:04, 17 July 2024 (UTC)- Just thought of this fix which would get rid of even that side effect. Fix dark mode in collapsed version by removing the background style that was causing the text to be dark instead of light. There should be no change in light mode. 173.206.40.108 (talk) 18:31, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

The title of the collapsible section is "Logs and discussions:" (in bold), but what's confusing is that the lists underneath (logs and discussions) also have titles with colons, in bold. So on second glance, it looks like something's missing after "Logs and discussions:". It would be clearer to remove the colon. This is standard practice, cf. Template:Collapsible list#Examples, Template:Hidden#Examples, and Template:Collapse.
