Can we give this an option to reflect the user's preferences? If the size is less than, say, n = 10, could we engineer it so that this is equivalent to "upright=n"? We could then set the size to 1 to fit most other images in the article. — kwami (talk) 20:32, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Logged-out appearance

[edit]

Currently, it appears that the default |background_color= and |align= parameters are not being applied when logged out. Chchowmein (talk) 18:29, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Chchowmein what platform and browser are you having this issue on? I am not able to reproduce it. ~ oklopfer (💬) 20:04, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Actually, partially scratch that. I am noticing the issue you described occurs when editing a page, but not when regularly viewing the page, even when logged in. ~ oklopfer (💬) 20:16, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've just be driving myself crazy wondering why this wasn't aligning correctly in preview. It doesn't work correctly having saves the edit. Is this a WP:ITSTHURSDAY thing? -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 16:07, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've posted notice of this to WP:VPT. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 16:11, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
In your preferences, is the setting "Show preview without reloading the page" on? Ponor (talk) 23:01, 30 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Add tracking category when no images are being used

[edit]

While noticing a bot removing the last image from a template usage, I noticed that there is no indication that the template is now useless on that page. Could a tracking category be added if there are no images being used? Gonnym (talk) 06:23, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Gonnym, I added Category:Pages using multiple image with zero images and Category:Pages using multiple image with one image (hopefully I did it right). Frietjes (talk) 23:03, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Visual editor not displaying correctly

[edit]

When the alignment is not set to none, it displays in the visual editor as if it were anyhow. Or at least that's the case for me in Vector 2022. JacobTheRox(talk | contributions) 11:07, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please link to a page where this is happening. The template's /testcases page could be a good place to demonstrate the problem. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:35, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Allow an image to occupy multiple rows?

[edit]

Sometimes we have images with high aspect ratios. To fit those inside a multi-image template, it would be great to allow an image to occupy multiple rows. For example, in the multiple image template used in the Dinosaur Stomping Grounds article , I would like to place a third image to fill the empty space (i.e., have two images in the left column and one in the right column). Is this somehow possible and if not, could this perhaps be implemented? Thanks! Jens Lallensack (talk) 07:39, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, this is not so easy. I don't know of any generic image collage templates that support this right now. Frietjes (talk) 23:27, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Frietjes: Thanks. I just found out that this is already possible with the current template. We have to set the "perrow" parameter to "1/2". This is now used in three of the multi-image templates in the Camarasaurus article, for example. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 19:19, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
yes, this template allows an image to occupy multiple columns, but does not allow an image to occupy multiple rows. Frietjes (talk) 15:08, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Preview bug

[edit]

{Multiple image} displays with borders around the box and each image (by default) (as advertised) and places the image set inline with text. (All just like [File:] does for one image.)

However, In Preview, every {Multiple image} displays without any borders (sometimes noticeable) and not inline with text (can confuse). A876 (talk) 15:26, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I am experiencing the same thing. I did some testing in my sandbox and it seems like this bug only happens when there are no {{multiple image}}s already on the page you are editing. Feel free to use my sandbox for testing. CopperyMarrow15 (talk · edits) 19:30, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I noticed this a few weeks ago and mentioned in #Logged-out appearance. There is an open phabricator ticket for it somewhere. ~ oklopfer (💬) 19:38, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Probably phab:T427699 or something related. Support it there: no pressure, no fix. Ponor (talk) 00:22, 12 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

One more detail:

  • The defective preview shows the backgrounds, but not the borders.

Ways to reproduce (and not reproduce) the bug:

  • It happens when I Preview this template's documentation (and other things), while I'm logged in (which selects the old Wikipedia "skin" "Vector legacy (2010)").
  • In a private window and not logged in (which uses the default skin), it previews correctly.
  • If I then log in on the private window, the problem is back. Using Firefox browser. -A876 (talk) 23:44, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
