Karumbu Vil (transl.Sugarcane bow)[1] is a 1980 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Vijay and written by R. Selvaraj. The film stars Sudhakar, Subhashini and Y. Vijaya. It was released on 29 February 1980.

The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.[3][4] The song "Meenkodi Theril" is set to Mohanam, a Carnatic raga,[5] and attained popularity.[6]

Release and reception

Karumbu Vil was released on 29 February 1980.[7] Kanthan of Kalki appreciated P. L. Roy's cinematography, especially his capturing of forests, mountains, waterfalls and rivers along with Subhashini's performance but felt the story lacked substance.[8]
