"I'd Rather Be Alone" is a song by American singer and songwriter Tinashe. It was released on September 10, 2026, by Tinashe Music, Nice Life Recording Company, and Atlantic Records, as the fitth single from her eighth studio album, Popstar, and as a double single accompanied with "Pillow Fight".
Background and release
[edit]On September 10, 2026, Tinashe released the new tracks "Pillow Fight" and "I'd Rather Be Alone", a preview of her eighth studio album, Popstar, scheduled for release on September 25. Marking the fourth single from the album, they followed the releases of their previous singles "Too Easy", "Crash Out", and "Melatonin".[1]
Composition
[edit]"I'd Rather Be Alone" is a breakup electro-ballad[2][3] that explores the aftermath of a relationship. Alicia Urrea of Billboard stated that it presents a more vulnerable side of Tinashe's R&B-oriented sound.[1]
